Scribes of Central Florida Welcome to the Scribes of Central Florida Calligraphy Guild!  Organized in January, 1984 and based in Orlando, Florida, our members come from all walks of life, and include beginners, hobbyists, and professionals alike.  Our purpose is to promote the study and practice of calligraphy, but we also find an interest in many related arts such as bookmaking, embossing, rubber stamps, papermaking, watercolor, origami, marbling, and many more.

Membership
We are always happy to have another lettering enthusiast join in the fun. Benefits of membership in the Scribes includes:

  • reduced fees for workshops

  • informational newsletter
  • access to our library of books, publications and videos
  • opportunities to exhibit
  • associate with a great group of enthusiastic and creative people

Membership is open to all, regardless of skill level. Monthly meetings are social as well as informative. Programs include speakers, demonstrations, idea exchanges or exhibits.

Annual dues: $30.00 for Regular, $25.00 for Senior (55+) memberships, $30.00 to be a Friend of the Scribes, and $10.00 for a Newsletter Subscription for Non-Members.  If you would like to join, please send your check or money order (made out to the Scribes of Central Florida) and the following information to PO Box 1753, Winter Park FL 32790-1753: name, address, city, state, zip, home phone, business phone, e-mail address, type of dues you are paying (regular or senior). Also indicate if you have any special interests you would be willing to share at a meeting or workshop, and if you are interested in working on a committee.

Workshops
The Scribes sponsor a wide variety of workshops, from formal lettering to related arts such as marbling. Lettering artists from around the United States and abroad, as well as local talents, are invited to teach.
